“Make Poverty History on the iPhone.”
Make Poverty History is part of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, the largest anti-poverty movement in history. Their overarching aim is to spread awareness, raise funds, and encourage action against poverty on personal and government levels.
In a world-first endeavour, we have partnered with them to produce an iPhone app to help make poverty history. The aptly named “Make Poverty History” app harnesses the convenience and global accessibility of the Apple iTunes App Store to allow millions of easy and affordable micro-transactions. Featuring the white band, a global symbol of the fight against poverty, users can download the app for $0.99 USD from The App Store.
It allows The App Store’s installed base of 50 million users to to support the fight against poverty and spread awareness with custom white band wallpapers on their iPhone or iPod Touch. It also connects them with ways to act.
The app was Enabled’s own initiative. We are also developing an app for Stand Up and Take Action - the world’s largest ever mobilisation of people against extreme poverty.
